First English - Over 30 years of English Language Services
I first came to Switzerland in 1993 and began teaching English at my kitchen table.
In 1998, I completed my teaching diploma at the Volkshochschule Zürich. As my student numbers grew, my kitchen quickly became too small, so I converted my living room into a classroom in 2003. When that also became too small in 2008, I moved to Reiden.
Since then, I have taught at KV Sursee, Gewerbeschule Sursee, worked as a Cambridge Examiner, and prepared hundreds of students for IELTS and Cambridge exams. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of meeting thousands of students from many different backgrounds.

About me, Derrick Anderson
I grew up in Renfrew, Scotland, where I worked as an Electronics Technician before becoming an English teacher. My technical background has helped me develop a structured, analytical approach to teaching, which many students find especially useful in one-to-one lessons.
I have always enjoyed the Scottish countryside, and I also have a strong personal connection to Greece, where I spend part of my time because I appreciate the culture, hospitality, and slower pace of life there.
When I have time, I enjoy cooking—especially Chinese, Indian, Thai, Moroccan and Greek cuisine. I’m also a keen fisherman and have a strong interest in British and Irish horse racing.
